I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday weekend! It’s such a drag getting back to reality after a long weekend. What’d you do? If you follow me on Instagram you probably know two things: (1) It doesn’t get dark enough in Alaska to really enjoy fireworks on July 4th (which makes me wonder how my dad ever gave me his blessing to move here?) and (2) I went on an epic plane ride around Mount McKinley this weekend. My darling husband is desperately trying to ignite a lukewarm (at best) relationship between Alaska and me. A few weeks ago we went on a fjord trip with out-of-town friends and this past weekend we went on a float plane ride. Ummm landing on water at 200 miles per an hour is something that I actually highly recommend. What a blast! The incredible views of Mount McKinley weren’t too bad either. (We also heard some interesting information from the pilot about a certain former governor of Alaska…) And Nate thoroughly enjoyed a quick dip in this glacial water lake. Can you believe the gorgeous color of that water though?

Thanks to Rust’s Flying Service for a great trip with zero crashes!
That looks SO cool!

It really was! A bird’s eye view is such a great way to explore a new place!
