Today I am thrilled to introduce the baby I’ve been talking so much about over the past nine months. It seems like just a few minutes ago I announced we were expecting and now she is here!

Meet our newest little gal, Magnolia Lee. Contrary to every ultrasound I underwent, she did not weigh an exorbitant amount and was actually quite tiny– weighing in at a mighty 7 pounds 11 ounces. Despite her small stature, though, her head still measured in the 100th percentile. I had the most wonderful hospital stay and did not want to leave! It was like a mini vacation with room service and pain meds on demand. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a second daughter, but as soon as I laid eyes on her sweet face I was overcome with love and my heart grew bigger than I knew possible. All of a sudden, I couldn’t imagine life without her.

Introducing Waverley to Magnolia will forever be a highlight of my life. It was such an emotional moment, made so even more by exhaustion, pain medication, and postpartum hormones. I was unsure how Waverley would react, but her kindness and warmth prevailed. She wanted to compare foot size and give Magnolia the once over with her doctor’s kit. It was the sweetest encounter, one that left me wondering what in the world I did to become so lucky in life. The hospital spoiled us with sparkling apple cider, so we had a champagne toast to celebrate the new sister.

The rest of our glorious stay was spent watching the end of the Olympics and snuggling with our new baby. Since we’ve been home I have been working on recovering and feeding this ferocious little eater. I suspect she is playing catchup to her estimated weight and is constantly hungry!
